Il Segretariato Italiano Studenti in Medicina è un'associazione no-profit, apartitica ed aconfessionale, organizzata da studenti in Medicina, il cui lavoro è volontario. Si propone, tra l'altro, di promuovere le relazioni tra le Facoltà  di Medicina e Chirurgia italiane e straniere.

WELCOME TO CATANIA!!!!!

Hi people!
Just a few information....:

BOARD AND LODGING: You will be a special guest of our University. You will live in the university student’s residence. You will probably share the room with another exchange student.
Meals are provided twice a day: lunch and dinner are for free. The meals will be served from Monday till Saturday. The Cafeteria is in the city center, we will explain to you how to get there.
It’s possible to have Sunday dinner, a pocket lunch for Sunday’s trips and every evening you can chose also pizza!

ARRIVAL: We will pick you up at the airport or the railway station but you MUST tell us exactly when you arrive and any delay.

CONFIRMATION: Please try to communicate us as soon as you can the exact day of arrival and flight number, so that it will easy for us to schedule down the best way, place and time to pick you up. After you will mail it to us, you will receive a mail of confirmation. If you any have problem do no hesitate to call us!!!!

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING WITH YOU: white coat and stethoscope. Summer clothes, summer shoes, trekking shoes for the Etna trip, and anything you think can be useful for sunbathing.....don’t forget the sun screen please!!!!!

DEPARTMENT: we’ve tried to accomplish all your requests, following your first or second choice. There are many hospitals here, some are close, some are further...anyway you can easily take a bus, doctors are not so strict....if you do not arrive on time.

SOCIAL PROGRAM: of course we provide a social program, we will organize parties and many trips around Sicily. Some acitivities will require a small amount of money in order to participate. Once you get here you will be given all the necessary information of what the activities will consist on.

INSURANCE: you must show us once you get here your insurance. Do not post it. Just take it with you and show it to us. You will then keep it for all the month since you are the only responsible for it. If you don’t have it we cannot accept it, and we should send you back home. We are positive this won’t happen!

We also prepared a little welcome video on our site to introduce ourselves!

MAILING LIST: ask to be subscribed to: leocatania@sism.org writing “incoming student” in the object, your name and your country. We will make a discussion group with all the IFMSA incoming students trying to answer to any doubt about your staying in Sicily.
